Why patients choose us

Why Springville Patients Call Us First

Your Biopsy Is Read In-House by a Dermatopathologist

Dr. Michael Peterson is board-certified in both dermatology and dermatopathology, and the practice runs its own lab. The specialist who examines the slide works under the same roof as the provider who took it, rather than at an outside lab you never hear from.

Some Skin Cancers Treated With No Cutting

For certain basal and squamous cell skin cancers, Image-Guided Superficial Radiation Therapy treats the spot right in our office — no incision, no stitches, no anesthesia. It is a real option for spots on the nose, ears and face, or for patients who would rather avoid surgery.

Same-day appointments mean a changing mole or a flaring rash doesn’t have to wait for a slot weeks away. If you can’t make the drive, a telehealth visit from your iPhone or Android puts you in front of a provider from home.

Cosmetic Care, Inside a Dermatology Practice

Medical Spa

Fine lines, flat cheeks, dull or uneven skin — the things a dermatologist notices too. Our Springville medical spa offers Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, Restylane and Juvederm fillers, chemical peels, microneedling and facials, delivered inside a dermatology practice rather than a strip-mall spa. That means a medical team is down the hall for every treatment.

Laser Treatments

Sun spots, redness, broken capillaries, unwanted hair and old tattoos all respond to light — when the right device is matched to your skin. We offer laser resurfacing, IPL PhotoFacials, Clearlift, laser hair removal, tattoo removal and vein treatment in Springville, each planned by a dermatology team that knows how Utah’s high-altitude sun has already marked your skin.

Medical Dermatology

Acne that won’t clear, eczema that flares every Utah winter, psoriasis plaques, a rash nobody can name — these need a diagnosis before they need a cream. A wrong call on acne or a rash can mean months on the wrong treatment, so our providers examine the skin first and confirm with allergy patch testing or a biopsy when the answer isn’t obvious. Treatment is then built around your skin, from prescription topicals to light therapy, PRP for hair loss and wart removal. Most first visits take 15 to 30 minutes.

Skin Cancer & Surgical Dermatology

A spot that bleeds, grows or changes color needs to be looked at by someone who sees skin cancer every day. Our team removes skin cancers, suspicious moles, cysts and lipomas in the office, and revises scars once they’ve healed. Because Dr. Peterson is also a dermatopathologist, your biopsy is read in-house — and when surgery isn’t the best fit, Image-Guided SRT offers a non-surgical path for many basal and squamous cell cancers.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can I see a dermatologist today?

Often, yes. We offer same-day appointments, so call your nearest office as early in the day as you can and we’ll find the first opening. If you can’t come in, a same-day telehealth video visit is another option.

How long does a first dermatology appointment take?

Most consultations take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the concern. Your provider will review your skin, your medical history and your goals, and if a biopsy or a quick procedure is needed it can often be done at the same visit.

Will I see a dermatologist or a physician assistant?

It depends on the office and the day. Dr. Michael Peterson leads a team of experienced physician assistants and a board-certified nurse practitioner who all practice dermatology full time. If you want to see a particular provider, ask when you book.

Where does my biopsy go, and who reads it?

It stays with us. The practice has its own dermatopathology lab, and Dr. Peterson is board-certified in dermatopathology — the specialty of diagnosing skin disease under the microscope. We’ll contact you with the result and next steps.

Is the medical spa part of the dermatology practice?

Yes. Injectables, peels, microneedling, facials and laser treatments are provided by our own team, including a master aesthetic injector with more than 30 years of nursing experience. You can ask your dermatology provider about cosmetic concerns at the same practice.

Can I do a video visit instead of coming in?

Yes. Telehealth visits are available for all of our locations through the PocketPatient app on an iPhone or Android phone. They work well for follow-ups, rashes and acne check-ins; anything that needs a biopsy or procedure is booked in person.
